Where did January go? The weather here in what is usually the dryest part of the country has been sooooo wet we are practically floating. Chicken runs are muddy, so eggs are dirtier than usual and have to be carefully cleaned with the special egg wash. The garden is looking very sad, grass creeping into the veg beds and weeds in the strawberry bed but due to the aforementioned awful weather it’s too muddy for weeding. I was desperate to start gardening so have some seeds sown in the propogater on the kitchen windowsill. Tomatoes all up ok but cucumber seeds came through and then collapsed – what a disaster as they are very expensive. The peppers and aubergines are very slow to come through as is parsley. Sometimes I think it would be simpler just to buy some plants from the nursery or from a catalogue. But prices are off putting. Simple smallholding causes much worry!
